Inspired by a well known series of Greek stamps that came out in the 1970s, this project attempts to create a similar collection of matchboxes, depicting the same characters and traditional costumes from around Greece.
Since their first appearance, matches have facilitated the widest range of graphic design and artistry, because their simple packaging encourages for many experimentations and artistic expressions.
The traditional elements are redesigned with simple and geometric forms, following the principles of flat and contemporary design.
The illustrations have a monochrome palette in various shades of grey, highlighting the character design. Each costume location appears on the upper left or right corner of the matchbox in a handwritten font, while the rest of the text is in a sans serif and condensed font. This project is part of the package design course in AKTO college.
